Marketing plan

We want your book to succeed and sell lots of copies. So do you. Marketing is a collaboration between author and publisher.

Marketing a book is a phased process that depends on where we are in the process of writing, editing, publication, and after publication.

Phase 1. During the writing

Author

  • Feel free to let your audience know that you have a contract with us. Please do not share the contract itself, or the terms (both are a confidential agreement between us).
  • You can start preparing character profiles, trope maps (visuals of the keywords for your book), and excerpts or quotes to share with your audience. At this stage, trope maps should not include the cover design (as that won’t be finished yet), but can include images of the characters. (Here’s an example; and another one; example with a book cover; example with main characters.)
  • Recommended social media accounts: at least 3 of the following (we understand if you have an ethical objection to Meta):
    • Facebook, Instagram, Threads, BlueSky, Eh!, HeyCafé, TikTok, Tumblr, YouTube, Reddit, WordPress.
  • Send us an author mini-bio (look at the back or flyleaf of comparable books for examples, or see our author templates)
  • Send us a high-resolution photo of you that you are happy for us to use in publicity materials including the cover of your book.

Publisher

  • We will announce that we have a contract with you when you’re ready.
  • We will conduct an interview with you on our blog and social media.
  • We will share any character profiles, trope maps (visuals of the keywords for your book), and excerpts or quotes that you provide us with.
